AIDER was quite a challenging project and also a very exciting one to work on. Looking at it, you might think it’s a wrist watch without a dial or some kind of fitness-related gadget. Well, if you do think so, your guess is pretty close. AIDER, the latest innovation developed by BAESLap, is a health-related gadget specially designed not for athletes or runners but to befit numerous areas of needs of the elderly living in today’s society. Its main job is to detect and signal any abnormalities of its wearer occurring both internally and otherwise. For your better understanding, these are the main features of AIDER,

And by ‘elderly living in today’s society’, it means that there are lots and lots of elderly living all by themselves these days which isn’t very ideal as for 2 reasons; first, it’s definitely not safe for elderly, the ones with health problems in particular, to be living alone since any undesirable incidents can happen at any time and chances are they won’t be able to get help on their own or worse, in time. Second, it’s not that the elderly’s children or whoever in charge of taking care of them want to leave them alone but they do have living to make and other responsibilities to take care of and they can’t help worrying about the one they’ve left at home. At this point, we hope you agree that it’s not to much to say that ‘AIDER’ is a perfect solution.

And by ‘elderly living in today’s society’, it means that there are lots and lots of elderly living all by themselves these days which isn’t very ideal as for 2What’s so challenging about this project you ask? Well, it is very likely that the user and buyer of this product aren’t going to be the same person meaning we have to design the product to be simple and easy enough for elderly to use while other marketing material such as the packaging or print ads must be creative and catchy enough to attract the actual buyer. For example, the name we come up with must not be too hard for the seniors to pronounce or too fancy for them to remember whereas it must also indicate something about what the product does as well as sounding interesting enough, hence, ‘AIDER’ which means a helper or supporter and that’s exactly what it does.

Another challenge is that there’s a thin line between an image of a gadget for techno-geek and a gadget for health care or medical supply. We aim AIDER more towards the medical supply side, take blood pressure monitor or walker, for instance, we want an overall picture to be like that but looks innovative at the same time. That’s the core idea we use to create everything that follows like logo, poster for exhibitions and so on. reasons; first, it’s definitely not safe for elderly, the ones with health problems in particular, to be living alone since any undesirable incidents can happen at any time and chances are they won’t be able to get help on their own or worse, in time.
